Unboxing the Redmi Watch 5 Lite:

Inside the box, you get the Redmi Watch 5 Lite along with a couple of manuals and a two-pin magnetic charging cable. The packaging is simple here, no frills, which in truth neatly fits into the budget ethos of this smartwatch.

Design and Build Quality:

The Redmi Watch 5 Lite features a traditional square dial design along with a shiny midframe. Although the frame may looks metallic, it is in fact all plastic with a coating of Non-Conductive Vacuum Metallization (NCVM). The process has the effect of making the plastic look metallic, but it’s fingerprint and scratch-prone, so take good care of it.

Key design elements include:

  • A lone side-mounted push button for navigating through menus.
  • A button, with a speaker underneath, just below the button.
  • 2-Microphone with the mic placed at the top and near the bottom.
  • Charging points and sensors, and Redmi’s branding on the back.

The watch weighs only 29 grams without the strap, the strap is very soft and breathable. It includes a TPU strap, which isn’t quite as soft or skin-friendly as silicone, but that’s acceptable for the cost. What stands out here is that it’s 5 ATM water resistant and therefore swim-friendly. You can swipe up to activate a water drain feature from the bottom, but it’d be best to avoid wearing the MI Band 4 in hot showers or the like.

Display: Vibrant and Functional:

Redmi Watch 5 Lite comes with a 1.96-inch AMOLED display , which has a resolution of 410×502 pixels and a pixel density of 332 pixels per inch. There’s a pretty thick bezel, especially along the bottom, with a 76% screen-to-body ratio, but it doesn’t feel egregious.

The display shines with:

  • 600 nits of peak brightness, so it’s visible in any lighting.
  • Smooth touch interface, although its refresh rate is less than 60 Hz.
  • Bright colors and clear, easy-to-read text.

You’ll also get 200+ watch faces, courtesy of the Mi Fitness app, and can store around two to three directly on the watch itself. Of the budget smartwatches, the syncing is particularly fast. And the Smart Always On Display is driven to be on when you wear it and off when you don’t, saving battery life. Raise to Wake, Cover to Lock, and Tap to Wake features work as expected and add convenience.

Performance and Features:

The Redmi Watch 5 Lite is an affordable smartwatch with a few extra pros under the hood.

Fitness and Health Tracking:

Packed with over 150 workout modes and a five-satellite positioning system, this watch is a fitness buff’s heaven at Rs 3,500. Its built-in GPS works well when you’re outdoors, but indoor coverage can be hit or miss. Key health features include:

  • Heart Rate Measuring: Precise and equivalent to medical grade, support one of finding heart rate (1 minute, 10 minutes and 30 minutes).
  • SpO2 Monitor: Carry the inspiration with you, wherever you go, all-day blood oxygen insight.
  • Sleep Monitor: In-depth knowledge of deep and light sleep, and a breathing score.
  • Stress Monitor: Aimed at keeping stress levels in check and provides a 30-day history.
  • Vitality Score: This chart shows your activity over the last seven days.

They are not a medical grade but accuracy is impressively high for a budget device.

Bluetooth Calling:

The watch also includes Bluetooth calling with a dual-mic system and noise reduction. Call quality is acceptable, but the speaker is not very loud. You can have up to 10 contacts in the companion app, which is limiting, but it works.

Smart Features:

The Redmi Watch 5 Lite is powered by Xiaomi Hyper OS , which provides a convenient and intuitive user experience. Some of the best smart features include:

  • Alexa Integration: Long-press on the side button to call Alexa (no Siri or Google Assistant).
  • Weather APP: You can enable up to 3 locations with detailed weather information.
  • Music and Camera Control: Play music or use the watch as a remote shutter control for your smartphone.
  • World Clock, Calendar and Tasks: They sync with your phone, wherever you are.
  • Find My Phone, and Flashlight (standard and SOS modes).
  • Tiles and watch faces that make it your own.

The OS is very user-friendly and has gestures such as swiping for notifications, shortcuts, and settings. The app itself is easy to use, and the features are also simple to manage.

Battery Life: One to Stand Out:

Powering the Redmi Watch 5 Lite is a 470 mAh battery, which can be fully charged in roughly 2 hours. Also, its battery life is amazing -

  • After 5 days of normal use (constant heart rate and SpO2 readings, 70% screen brightness, Smart Always On Display) it went down from 77% to 11%.
  • With lighter use, you could easily get it to last a week or more.

One of the strongest batteries lives in the budget smartwatch world.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Bright 1.96-inch AMOLED screen.
  • 5ATM water resistance also works for swimming.
  • 5-satellite positioning; built-in GPS.
  • Precise and Effective Health Monitoring.
  • Impressive battery life.
  • Affordable at Rs 3,500.

Cons:

  • TPU strap is the inferior option, doesn’t feel as nice.
  • It is not as durable as I would have liked with a plastic frame.
  • Will only store up to 10 contacts for Bluetooth calling.
  • No premiums or fancy designs.

Conclusion: Is the Redmi Watch 5 Lite Worth It?:

Budget hunters looking for a genre of smartwatch will find the Redmi Watch 5 Lite worth considerable value. The AMOLED display, 5 ATM water resistance, built-in GPS, and long battery life sets it apart at Rs 3,500. Health and fitness tracking works really well, and the Hyper OS runs nicely and smoothly.

But the TPU strap and plastic frame take away from the ability to pull off a premium-looking package, although it feels more casual elsewhere anyway. If you don’t mind a look that isn’t luxurious and value function over style, you can’t go wrong with this one. Among fitness enthusiasts or casual exercisers, it’s a smart investment that punches above its price.
